Audience Research

  • After having a look at uktribes.com, it gave me a better idea of the type of things my chosen target audience are interested in so I can get a better understanding of how to interact with them. In the 'Learning Edge' section I have made a decision that although my theme is half indie, half pop, I do think the attributes of 'Indie Scenesters' match more to what the description of my genre originally was. To summaries, these type of people love to discover new music, and they would do anything to get their hands on every avenue E.G. Online, Record shops etc. The fact that they love music so much 'stands them out from the crowd' for not following the mainstream pattern. They enjoy Guitar music, artists like Vampire Weekend, 'Indie Scenesters' embrace experimental genre-blending, like Indie/Pop for instance, however, sticking to original artists instead of blending the two together is better. They have their own music blogs, they prefere buiding up their Vinyl collection than going out socialising, very introverted, and boys/girls share similar clothing choices, their high street staples focuses around the most practical instead of the designer labels

  1. Michelle. I say we push your creativity as far as we can. Look at as many zines as you can, avoid making a mainstream magazine and go for a small bespoke publication that is really sharply targeted at small audiences.

I'll pass oomk, and other assorted weird magazines your way. Take a look at Laura Sygrove and Amber Kelsey's work from last year too.

always reflect on your work in terms of what you've learnt and what you plan to do.

There is plenty of potential for level four planning but you must make these alterations.
