Magazine Analysis (ELLE Cover)

• ELLE Magazine began in 1945. It is a French worldwide lifestyle magazine that focuses on fashion, beauty, health and entertainment. It is the world's largest fashion magazine with 40 international editions in over 60 countries. 
• "In the 1960s, it was considered to "not so much reflect fashion as decree it", with 800,000 loyal readers and a then famous slogan: "Si elle lit elle lit Elle (If she reads, she reads Elle)"." - Source
• I think that magazine is suitable for my chosen genre/style because I think that I will have a lot to say/opinions on the structure of this magazine and it gives a new perspective on types of fashion.

Cover:

1. Masthead: Centred at the top of the page, however, this time, the model is still covering the lettering, but not as much due to the fact that 'ELLE' is spread out to give way of the head, as if the centre of attention is the model, which it always is on a front cover. The font colour is Black and it is in a sophisticated style, it doesn't clash with anything at all, it just about stands out with everything else, however, the model is wearing mostly Black/White so there is competition.
2. Coverlines: The text in contrast with the imagery works well due to the fact that they haven't put the Black font over the model's Black blazer/shirt, only on the White background. Also, the main 'sub-heading' as it is, the use of different colours in different letters definitely stands out from the quite monochrome theme, it is relating back to the main theme of the magazine and it works very well.
3. Main Image: Miley's chosen 'pose' on the front cover is revealing and flirtatious, and in regards of her outfit, very much revealing, however, she pulls it off in a sense of keeping the whole minimalistic theme, the outfit goes in contrast with the white background, nothing too outrageous.

• This month features Miley Cyrus, an American Actress/Singer, to which is always in the public eye because of her spontaneous antics throughout 2013, the way she dresses is vital and can influence her fans and people who read this magazine.
• The girl, early-twenties caught my eye due to the fact that she is dressed quite brightly throughout the magazine, and I think that the type of style that she has gone for could most likely attract the audience that I am trying to get to read my magazine.
